JS Rivera is a recent immigrant to Ireland. His art is influenced by debates around ‘Irishness’ in response to anti-immigrant rhetoric. This painting, A Protest, 26 April 2025, depicts the counter demonstration at the GPO on O’Connell Street, Dublin. The counter-protest was against the far-right, anti-immigration march through Dublin. The artist wanted to depict the spirit of inclusivity amongst a broad coalition of allies.
