This collection brings together paintings from earlier stages of Rivera’s practice, spanning subjects and places that helped shape his development as an artist. The works include scenes inspired by Oxford, the United States, libraries and interiors, alongside studies of architecture, landscape and everyday spaces. Although varied in subject, they reveal recurring interests that continue to run through his work today: atmosphere, memory, the character of place, and the way people inhabit and experience their surroundings.

Seen together, these paintings offer a record of an evolving practice — from early explorations of light, composition and built environments to the more focused bodies of work Rivera is developing in Ireland today.
