Our Lady of the Bike Shed

Our Lady of the Bike Shed, Oil on Tent Canvas, 2024

In 2024, the Office of Public Works in Ireland installed a bike shed at Leinster House (the seat of the Irish parliament) at a cost to the public of €336,000. Meanwhile, so many immigrants and asylum-seekers sleep on the streets or in tents on the periphery. This painting evokes the iconography of Mary and Joseph seeking shelter and aid in a modern Ireland. This is an oil painting on blue tent.
