Wicklow sits at the heart of Rivera’s practice. Living in the Garden of Ireland, he returns repeatedly to its coastline, mountains, woodlands and changing light, exploring not only the beauty of the landscape but the sense of place and belonging that has developed through making a home there. These paintings reflect an ongoing engagement with the county’s atmosphere, from familiar local landmarks to quieter, less immediately recognisable views.
